What a report is for
A conversation in your yard answers most questions. But the moment a finding has to travel — to a buyer, a board, a property manager, or a contractor bidding the work — it needs to be written down, backed by evidence, and signed by someone accountable for it. Recommendations follow ISA Best Management Practices and the ANSI A300 standard.

The simplest way to know which you need: does the finding need to leave the room? If it stays between us in your yard, a consultation does it. If it has to convince someone who wasn't there, it goes in writing.
